Digital Art Kudos
explained

On this page, you'll learn everything about Kudos of the Day, Kudos of the Week and Kudos of the Month but also Digital Art Contests and everything you need to know.

Kudos of the Day

  1. Follow Digital Art Kudos on Instagram.
If we can't and don't want to force you to follow us, it is greatly appreciated :)

  2. Tag your art(s) with #digitalartkudos and/or with @digitalartkudos.
You need to be the creator of the art and own all its rights. If you used assets from another artist in your creation, you should give them credits in your post description so we can give them credit too. Any art that would be flagged for copyright reasons will be immediately removed and the account reported to Instagram.

  3. We give a Kudos of the Day between 2 and 3 times a day... That's 21 chances per week to get featured! Kudos of the Day are given to arts/artists that we like (based on subjective artistic tastes only) and don't follow the Digital Art Scoring guide.

Kudos of the week

  3. At the end of each week, the Digital Art Kudos Team will look at all the arts that received a Kudos of the Day during that same week. The art with the highest Digital Art Score (what is the Digital Art Score?) AND the most likes is elected Kudos of the Week. In the event of a tie between 2 or more arts, Digital Art Kudos will proceed to an internal vote.

Kudos of the Month

  1. To get a chance to receive a Kudos of the Month, first, you need to have received at least one Kudos of the Week during that same month.

  2. Each month, the Digital Art Kudos Team will look at the 4 artworks that received a Kudos of the Week that same month. The art with the highest Digital Art Score (what is the Digital Art Score?) AND the most likes is elected Kudos of the Month. In the event of a tie between 2 or more arts, Digital Art Kudos will proceed to an internal vote.

  3. The artist receiving a Kudos of the Month will be featured for an entire month on the homepage of the Digital Art Kudos website. The artist will also be featured in our Instagram Highlight: Kudos of the Month + listed in the Kudos of the Month web page... forever!

Digital Art Contests

  1. Create an art following the Seasonal Theme and technical requirements.
Those can be found on the page of each contest in the section Rules.

  2. Tag your art(s) with the hashtag of the contest (each contest has its own hashtag following this structure: #dak_NameContest). You can also tag your art with @digitalartkudos to assure you to not be missed. You need to be the creator of the art and own all its rights. If you used assets from another artist (s) in your creation, you should give them credits in your post description so we can give them credit too. Any art that would be flagged for copyright reasons will be immediately removed and the account reported to Instagram.

  3. Each contest requires your art(s) to be sent before a certain date and time.
Go on an event page to know the date.

  4. The winner will be selected by the Digital Art Kudos Team and the Sponsor if any. (Learn more about sponsoring a contest) The selection will be made following scoring criteria (Creativity, Lighting, Composition and Blending).
In the event of a tie between 2 or more artworks, the number of likes on the arts will be considered and/or an internal vote within the Digital Art Kudos team.

Digital Art Score

The Digital Art Score is the average result of 4 criteria: Creativity, Lighting, Composition, Blending.

  1. Creativity:

This score refers to how much the art is original and unique. It is also considered how attractive the visual is. It is the most subjective criteria and reflects only what the Digital Art Kudos Team feels about each art and doesn’t make it a universal rule. We all have a different artistic sensibility :)

  2. Lighting:

This score refers to the realism of the design and its lighting accuracy. It doesn’t matter if the design is ultra-realistic or cartoonish but the lights and shadows should be logical and realistic to make the art plausible.

  3. Composition:

This score refers to the placement of elements in the artwork and also the view chosen. Here we are looking for a scene that has life in it and is dynamic. We are also looking at perspectives, depth, view/camera angle chosen.

  4. Blending:

This score refers to how the elements that compose the art are blended together and create the feeling of one ‘picture’ as opposed to a bunch of elements put together. Accurate lighting, correct composition, atmospheric effects, depth blur are the elements that make an art believable.
